Sarper Güven Announces Plans to Donate Proceeds from NYC Comedy Shows to “90 Day: The Last Resort” Co-Star Jenny Slatten’s ALS Care

Sarper Güven is showing his support to his “90 Day: The Last Resort” co-stars Jenny Slatten and Sumit Singh by donating the proceeds from his upcoming New York City stand-up comedy shows to the couple in order to help with Jenny’s medical costs.

As The Ashley previously reported, Jenny and Sumit shared with fans in May that Jenny was diagnosed in December with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). While a friend of the “90 Day Fiancé” couple launched a GoFundMe in May to help with Jenny’s increasing medical care costs, Sarper announced this week that he will be making a contribution of his own through his budding stand-up comedy career.

“ … I came up with an idea, which is doing multiple stand-up comedy shows for her, that we can use ticket revenue for Jenny’s treatment,” Sarper told fans on Instagram this week. “It will take place in New York City at Broadway Comedy Club July 21st, 22nd and 23rd, if needed. Ticket prices will only be $50 [so] that everyone can contribute somehow. Even if you don’t live in New York City, you can still buy a ticket and give as a gift [to] someone who lives in New York.

“Please share this as much as possible,” he continued. “Let’s stand up for her. We love you Jenny.”

Jenny and Sumit took to the comments of Sarper’s video to express their gratitude for his generous gesture, telling their co-star they couldn’t thank him enough.

“ … never say that … I can do anything for her,” Sarper replied.

In addition to the upcoming proceeds from Sarper’s comedy shows, Jenny and Sumit have received nearly $80,000 in donations through their GoFundMe. In the latest update posted to the page on Monday, fundraiser organizer Penny Minincleri told supporters that “Jenny has been diligent in finding out all she can and do for this horrible disease.” While there is no cure for ALS, Penny noted that the disease can be slowed down with medication, but only if an individual carries a certain gene.

“Jenny is waiting on the results of those tests,” Penny shared.

Jenny also provided an update of her own, in which she explained to fans that she has “Bulbar” ALS– a form of ALS that mainly affects the motor neurons within the bulbar region of the brainstem– which causes her to speak slower and have difficulty swallowing. Jenny also said she’s experiencing pain in her lower back when she walks, but maintains that she’s “still independent for now.”

Jenny and Sumit had informed fans earlier this month that they planned to remain in India while Jenny is receiving medical care; however, Jenny shared in the recent GoFundMe update that she and Sumit are hoping to travel to the United States and that Sumit has already applied for a visa.

“ … as this disease progression happens I will need more care so we have applied for Sumit’s visa to the U.S. (California) because my daughters live there and I’m from there,” Jenny wrote. “So we are waiting for his visa as I won’t travel alone, it’s not safe for me.”

You can watch Sarper, Jenny and Sumit on the currently airing season of “90 Day: The Last Resort.” New episodes air Mondays on TLC.
